The fabric has stretch but still feels supportive/huggy. I have two of these, and sized up for the second pair – I hate waistbands digging into me, and the XL is more comfortable while still feeling like a good fit. I’m usually an AU 14/16 for reference.
The pocket is *chefs kiss* everything you could want. Fits my iPhone 13 Max. Interested to see how they hold up after wash & wear but so far so good.
